July 11–25, The LAVA Center will host the Open Screen Film Festival, a virtual showcase of local filmmaking talent, from students to professionals and everyone in between.
This festival will function like an open mic, in that there will be no competitive selection process—all appropriate films that are submitted will be screened!
- Films must made by current residents of Massachusetts.
- We will accept films and videos of any length, any subject, any style.
- Films must be creative projects in their own right, as opposed to live events or performances filmed for documentation purposes.
- Submissions must be generally family-friendly—filmmakers are asked to rate their own submissions using MPAA guidelines, so we can include suggested age ranges in publicity and program introductions.
To submit, please fill out this form—at the bottom of the form will be instructions on how to send your video file.
The festival will feature three programs, each debuting on a Sunday afternoon and running continually from debut through the final day of the festival. Tickets will be distributed via free online registration.
There may also be additional festival events, such as talkbacks with the filmmakers and a panel discussion with local film- and video-makers. Stay tuned!
This program is funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
